The Baja 1000 has something for all fans of motor racing, whether your persuasion is vehicles with two wheels, four wheels or more.

Regardless of their mode of transport, the 854-mile course is a hellacious test for drivers and cyclists alike, setting off from Ensenada southbound down the Baja California peninsula coast before looping back to the finish.

The Baja 1000 official Twitter feed highlighted the course has been modified after a number of issues:

As the race approaches its half-century anniversary next year, the epic Mad Max-style event continues to attract a host of new fans and world-famous names.

The battle reflects the endurance needed for the 24 Hours of Le Mans race, but conditions can change in an instant as the contest heats up.

The 2016 race continues with the popular loop format, hugging the Pacific Ocean before swinging inland.

The course mixes traditional desert tracks and paved highway as it attacks the peninsula with full force.

Trophy trucks mix with Volkswagen Beetles as the class of vehicles caters to all fans’ tastes.

Local knowledge is the key to success at the Baja 1000, but this can be destroyed if the weather turns at the wrong point of the race.

The public roads incorporated into the circuit are not closed during the event, allowing locals to drive side by side with the racing contingent.

The Baja 1000 is a true alternative for fans of motor racing, placing supporters of the event into another world during the duration of the action.

The race is one of the most unique in the world and unparalleled across the globe.
