Christian Benteke has emerged yet again as a target for Crystal Palace as the Eagles attempt to add power to their attack for the new Premier League campaign.
Giuseppe Muro of the London Evening Standard reported Selhurst Park boss Alan Pardew is “desperate” to add two more strikers as Connor Wickham is his only fit centre-forward. The Reds value Benteke at £30 million, leaving Pardew the option of bidding for the player, who has suffered a torrid time during his short stay at Anfield.
Muro quoted Pardew discussing his current options as he scours the market for value.
Pardew said: “We have been linked with a number of players but we have four or five strikers that we could bring to this club.”

Palace winger Yannick Bolasie has backed Benteke to be a success at Selhurst Park if he decides to depart Merseyside during the current transfer window, per Muro.
Obviously Benteke has Congolese origin, same as me.
It is good to see fresh faces come through the door.
Especially with what we are seeing in the Premier League so far, with the managers that have come in and players coming in from all over the world.
The Daily Mail‘s Dominic King suggested a Benteke sale would help manager Jurgen Klopp balance the books as he attempts to rebuild:

The 25-year-old Belgium international rarely featured in Klopp’s starting plans last season and made 29 appearances in the Premier League, according to WhoScored.com. The forward started only 14 games in the league but achieved a solid ratio, scoring nine goals.
In other news, Liverpool target Charlie Taylor has handed in a transfer request at Leeds United, but his club have formally announced they have no intention of selling the talented full-back.

Ian Doyle of the Liverpool Echo highlighted that Taylor, who was Leeds’ Player of the Year last term, had been linked with the Reds during the summer. The player has also been linked with a switch to newly promoted Middlesbrough.
Sky Sports News HQ reported the Championship club’s response to Taylor’s request:

Benteke has been a huge failure at Liverpool and the Belgian needs a fresh start after materialising as a major signing for the Anfield club when he departed Aston Villa.
Should Liverpool sell Benteke to the highest bidder?
The Reds’ expectation levels are too high for the striker and he doesn’t possess the mobility needed to operate in Klopp’s preferred system.
Benteke would thrive at Palace, and their direct style would see the striker back amongst the goals as he becomes an automatic pick to start every week in the Premier League.
Klopp desperately needs a striker to supplement the threat of Daniel Sturridge, but if the England international can stay fit, Liverpool have enough attacking talent from deep to enhance his prowess in front of goal.
